\\ C I T Y G U I D E // Delray Beach, Florida

Atticus’ TO-DO list for a family visiting Delray Beach, Florida with a Toddler.

Delray Beach is a big small town with heaps of cafes, restaurants and beach shops to wile away your getaway. Its beautiful coastline, proximity to two airports (FLL and PBI) and relaxed atmosphere make it a great family-friendly destination along Florida’s southern shores.

Where to Stay  - Book a house, town home or condo on many of the for-rent-by-owner sites like VRBO, Homeaway or use a local realtor. We also loved the look of The Seagate Hotel

Breakfast  - One of Travel & Liesure’s Top 30 Inns in the US, be sure to check out the Sunday brunch at Sundy House - at almost $60 a head its definitely a treat, but a worthwhile one. A beautiful Victorian estate, in the heart of Delray Beach. Enjoy one of their complimentary garden tours while you wait for a table or to walk off your meal!

Morning activity - Stroll the main strip (East Atlantic Ave) or visit the playground (Anchor Park) right across from the public beach on South Ocean Blvd. Google map here

Lunch - For organic fare in an adorable courtyard setting, head to Dig. They have a working garden on the property right in the center of Delray Beach no less!

Post-nap activity  - This was always our favorite time to hit the beach, but if you’ve had too much sun and sand, we recommend going for a walk up or down Atlantic Ave to pop into the beach shops or grab a coffee at one of the many cafes

Dinner  - Deck84 - with an amazing location right on the intercostal, this casual American eatery attracts boaters and beacher’s alike. There is always a fun and busy vibe, great music and be sure to hit their Taco Tuesday night for all you can eat tacos and live music.

Adult evening activity - Tennis under the lights. For a $15 court fee, you can enjoy tennis under the stars at The Delray Beach Tennis Club, host of many international tennis championships. Open until 9PM.

For a rainy day - Hit the mall! Town Center at Boca Raton has all your favorite department and chain stores for a little American-style retail therapy.
